Combat Simulation System for Training the Driver-Mechanic and Operator of the GMZ-3 Tracked Mine-Laying Vehicle

About the Simulator

The GMZ-3 tracked mine-clearing vehicle mechanic-driver and operator simulator is designed to provide trainees with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in driving and performing engineering tasks as a mechanic-driver and operator of the GMZ-3. It is also used to assess the level of knowledge acquired by trainees through the completion of test assignments.
The simulator consists of a model of the main control organs of the workstation for a mechanic-driver of engineering equipment, as well as computer equipment for the automated workstation (AWS) of the instructor and operator, equipped with licensed specialized software (SSW).

“Mock-up of the Driver-Mechanic Control System of the GMZ-3 Tracked Mine-Laying Vehicle

The computer-mechanical mock-up of the mechanic-driver's workstation (mock-up of the control elements of the GMZ-3 machine mechanic-driver) is designed for practicing the driving skills of the GMZ-3 engineering machine. It ensures that the dimensions and placement of the equipment correspond to the actual size and positioning of the main control elements of the GMZ-3 mechanic-driver. Additionally, it replicates the range of movements (travel), forces, and feedback of the control element mock-ups (levers, pedals, switches) to match the characteristics of the real GMZ-3 machine equipment.
The computer-mechanical mock-up of the driver-mechanic’s workstation includes:
1. Steel frame 2. Table 3. Mechanic-driver's seat, adjustable 4, 5 Models of control levers 6, 7, 8 Models of the fuel supply pedal, clutch pedal, brake pedal 9, 10 Gear shift levers 11. Model of the manual fuel supply control handle 12. Visualization panel with touchscreen technology 13. Main monitor, helmet phone with cable and headset
Mock-up of the Operator Control System of the GMZ-3 Mine-Laying Vehicle
The educational interactive model of the GMZ-3 operator’s workstation (a model of the GMZ-3 machine operator’s controls) is designed for practicing the skills of a GMZ-3 operator and consists of:
1. steel frame 2. table 3. adjustable operator seat 4. main monitor 5. mock-up of the operator control panels for GMZ-3 on a visualization panel with Touchscreen technology 6. mock-up of the hydraulic unit lever 7. mock-up of the friction lever of the helmet phone, including cable and headset

Specialized Licensed Software "Training Program for the Driver-Mechanic and Operator of the GMZ-3 Tracked Mine-Laying Vehicle"

The software is a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulating the operating principles of components, units, and systems of the GMZ-3; the physical laws governing the movement of the GMZ-3 across different types of terrain and considering obstacle overcoming; comprehensive simulation of a training environment approximating real conditions; as well as preparation and monitoring of the execution of training tasks. The training program includes preparatory exercises that allow practicing skills in:
Fundamentals of Driving
  • Starting the vehicle using various methods with prior signaling, smoothly, without stalling the engine;
  • Shifting gears in a timely and rapid manner while maintaining the prescribed engine operating mode according to driving conditions, without stalling the engine;
  • Turning the vehicle using various methods according to road conditions and speed, without leaving the designated route, skidding, losing control, or stalling the engine;
  • Braking using various methods according to road conditions and stopping the vehicle at the specified location without stalling the engine, exceeding limits, or hitting obstacles;
  • Quick and precise execution of the instructor’s commands, with timely reporting of instrument readings.
Negotiating Narrow Passages and Obstacles
  • Negotiating ascents and descents in a low gear without stalling the engine or rolling back;
  • Stopping on an ascent or descent and then starting again without stalling the engine, rolling back, or losing control;
  • Turning on ascents and descents without stalling the engine, rolling back, losing control, or hitting obstacles;
  • Driving uphill with gear shifting and using steering levers (reduction gear levers) without stopping the engine or the vehicle, without rollback or loss of control;
  • Driving along a side slope while maintaining the assigned direction, stopping the vehicle, and resuming movement without stalling the engine.
Driving the Vehicle in a Column
  • Maintaining prescribed distances according to speed and driving conditions, with clear and timely execution of commands; completing the entire route without stops caused by trainees;
  • Passing turns, a railway crossing, difficult sections of the route, a bridge, and performing a turnaround without stops or hitting obstacles;
  • Properly overcoming obstacles encountered along the route at the maximum possible speed without stopping or hitting obstacles;
  • Halting a column of vehicles.
Execution of Engineering Tasks as Part of a Crew
  • Placement of anti-tank mines on the ground (snow) without camouflage; Placement of anti-tank mines in the ground (snow) with camouflage;
Crossing Water Obstacles and Driving Engineering Vehicles Through Fords
  • Approach to the water obstacle (at maximum possible speed, smooth entry into the water, crossing without stops or sharp turns);
  • Driving the vehicle without leaving the designated route;
  • Exiting onto the opposite bank (without stopping and departing from the water obstacle at maximum possible speed).
Loading the Vehicle onto Transport Vehicles
  • Loading and unloading the vehicle without scraping against the sides of the platform, the aircraft mock-up fuselage, or causing the vehicle to fall.
