Combat Simulation System for Training a Machine Gunner to Operate the Browning M2 Machine Gun. (for Mobile Air Defense Fire Groups)
About the System
The multimedia machine gunner simulator for the air defense mobile fire group (MVG PPO) is designed for training and practicing with the large-caliber Browning M2 machine gun. Its purpose is to develop and reinforce skills in visual reconnaissance, identification of aerial targets, aiming, and firing under various types of terrain, different weather conditions, and ballistic corrections, all within a classroom training environment.
The simulator includes: a training emulator of the Browning M2 heavy machine gun and VR equipment for the machine gunner, automated workstation equipment for the instructor and machine gunner, and specialized licensed software "Browning M2 Machine Gunner Training Program."
Training Mock-up of the Browning M2 machine gun
Designed to practice the combat operation skills of a machine gunner using the Browning M2 heavy machine gun and consists of:
- Simulator of the Browning M2 heavy machine gun;
- Platform representing a mock-up of the body of a HMMWV pickup;
- Turret with a mounted cradle;
- Transport case for the Browning M2 machine gun simulator;
- Container with additional equipment.
software is installed on the simulator’s computer equipment: "Browning M2 Machine Gunner Training Program."
The software is a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulation of:
- the operating principles of the control mechanisms of the Browning M2 machine gun used by the gunner;
- realistic ballistics of the Browning M2 machine gun;
- simulator-based modeling of training and combat environments closely resembling real conditions;
- preparation and monitoring of training task execution
The software and hardware of the simulator as a whole ensure the execution of the following tasks:
- Effective training of a machine gunner on the Browning M2 machine gun within the scope of their functional duties;
- Simulation of the machine gunner’s operational workflow on the Browning M2 machine gun with the ability to reproduce practical actions;
- Reproduction of the terrain and background environment (sounds of gunfire, explosions, etc.) within a unified information environment, with their dynamic changes during task execution;
- Reproduction of the actions of a machine gunner while performing their functional duties, including target identification, aiming, firing, etc.;
- Simulation (visualization) of firing the \"Browning M2\" machine gun in accordance with defined targets: aiming, bullet trajectory, and the effect of fire on the target;
- The dependence of the ballistic trajectory of bullets on target parameters, aiming angles, and the technical condition of the machine gun, specifically, overheating due to intensive firing;
- Integration into higher-level training and simulation systems with the capability to transmit information about status, position, and task execution, combining multiple similar and/or different training systems into a single information environment;
- The ability for the instructor to create acoustic target scenarios, variants of task execution, weather conditions, seasons, times of day, meteorological shooting conditions, enemy influence, and other conditions and factors affecting task performance; algorithms for altering the scenario during task execution; behavior of adjacent units and the enemy (including aerial units), civilian population, etc.; monitoring the task execution process from the instructor’s position with the ability to change task conditions during execution dynamically; and to pause or completely stop task execution at any moment.
- Documentation of the progress and results of task execution.
