Combat Simulation System for Training a Gunner on the Browning M2 machine gun
About the System
A multimedia simulator for the Browning M2 machine gunner, designed for the training and practice of the Browning M2 heavy machine gunner, aims to develop and reinforce skills in visual reconnaissance, identification of ground targets, aiming, and firing in various types of terrain, under different weather conditions, and with ballistic corrections, all within a classroom training environment.
The trainer includes: a Browning M2 machine gun simulator and VR equipment for the gunner, automated workstation equipment for the instructor and gunner, specialized licensed simulation software for combat scenarios, and the "Browning M2 Gunner Training Program".
Training Mock-up of the Browning M2 machine gun
Designed to practice the combat operation skills of a gunner on the heavy machine gun Browning M2 machine gun and consists of:
- Simulator of the Browning M2 machine gun;
- Transport case for the Browning M2 machine gun simulator;
- Tripod;
- Container with additional equipment;
Automated Instructor Workstation
Designed to create situational and phono-target environments, variations in task execution for training, and other conditions and factors affecting the training process. At their workstation, the instructor can observe the task execution process, dynamically change conditions and situations, and receive complete information about the actions of the trainees. Specialized licensed software for simulating combat environments: the "Browning M2 Gunner Training Program."
Software is a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulation:
- the operating principles of the control mechanisms of the Browning M2 machine gun used by the gunner;
- simulator-based modeling of training and combat environments closely resembling real conditions;
- preparation and monitoring of the execution of training tasks.
The software and hardware of the simulator as a whole ensure the execution of the following tasks:
- Effective training of a gunner on the Browning M2 machine gun within the scope of their functional duties;
- Simulation of the gunner’s operational workflow on the Browning M2 machine gun with the ability to reproduce practical actions;
- Reproduction of terrain and background environment (sounds of gunfire, explosions, etc.) within a unified information environment, with dynamic changes during task execution;
- Reproduction of the gunner’s actions while performing their functional duties, including target identification, aiming, firing, etc.;
- Modeling (visualization) of firing from the Browning M2 machine gun in accordance with designated targets: aiming, bullet trajectory, and the effects of fire on the target;
- Integration with higher-level training and simulation systems, with the ability to transmit data on status, position, and task execution, and to combine multiple homogeneous and/or heterogeneous simulator systems into a unified information environment;
- The ability for the instructor to create target and background scenarios, task execution variants, weather conditions, seasons and time of day, meteorological conditions for firing, enemy influence, and other conditions and factors affecting task performance; to define algorithms for dynamic changes in the scenario during task execution; to simulate the behavior of adjacent units, the enemy, and civilians; to monitor task execution from the instructor’s workstation with the ability to dynamically adjust conditions, pause, or fully stop the task at any time;
- Documentation of the progress and results of task execution.
