Combat Simulation System for Training Operators of the Man-Portable Air Defense System Igla / Piorun (Mobile Configuration)
About the System
The multimedia complex for training operators of the portable anti-aircraft missile system "Igla/Piorun" is designed for sequential training and practice of operators of the "Igla" or "Piorun" MANPADS. Its purpose is to develop and reinforce skills in visual reconnaissance, identification of aerial targets, aiming and firing under various terrain types, weather conditions, and within a classroom training environment.
Training Mock-up of the Man-Portable Air Defense System Igla / Piorun MANPADS
Designed to practice the combat operation skills of an Igla/Piorun MANPADS operator and consists of:
1. Launch tube mock-up; 2. Launch mechanism mock-up (with full functionality of MANPADS control elements); 3. Launch tube authorization key mock-up; 4. Ground power source mock-up; 5. VR positioning tracker.
"Igla"
"PIORUN"
The launcher mock-up is equipped with functional buttons for selecting operating modes:
- S/H button – target selection: aircraft/helicopter;
- BSL – target selection: unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV);
- RAK button – target selection: missile;
- DB button – weather conditions: clear day;
- DZ button – weather conditions: cloudy day;
- NOC button – weather conditions: night;
- K button – control of selected functions and battery charge status;
- IFF button – identification request function;
- ZZ button – proximity sensor disable.”
* The mock-up fully matches the real Igla or Piorun MANPADS in terms of dimensions, geometry, and the relative positioning of its component simulators.
Special software titled "Training Program for Operators of Man-Portable Air Defense Systems 'Igla' and 'Piorun'" has been installed on the computer equipment of the Simulator.
- This software is a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulation of:
- the operating principles of the control units of the "Igla" and "Piorun" used by operators;
- comprehensive simulation of training and combat environments closely resembling real conditions;
- preparation and monitoring of training task execution
The software and hardware of the simulator as a whole ensure the execution of the following tasks:
- Effective sequential training of operators of the Igla or Piorun MANPADS within the scope of their functional duties;
- Simulation of the operational workflow of Igla or Piorun MANPADS operators, with the ability to reproduce practical actions;
- Conducting missions during nighttime to train operators of the Igla or Piorun MANPADS, with the capability to replicate practical actions using night vision sights;
- Reproduction of terrain and background environment (sounds of missile launches, explosions, etc.) within a unified information environment, with their dynamic changes during the execution of tasks;
- Reproduction of the operator’s actions while performing their functional duties, including target identification, aiming, firing, etc.;
- Simulation (visualization) of firing the Igla or Piorun MANPADS in accordance with the designated targets: aiming, missile flight, result of the fire impact on the target;
- Integration into higher-level training and simulation systems with the capability to transmit information about status, position, and task execution, combining multiple homogeneous and/or heterogeneous training systems (complex simulators) into a unified information environment;
- The capability for the instructor to create a sound-target environment, task execution variants, weather conditions, seasons, and times of day, shooting meteorological conditions, enemy influence, other conditions and factors affecting task performance; algorithms for changing the situation during task execution; monitoring the task execution process from the instructor's position with the ability to dynamically change the task execution conditions during its performance; the ability to suspend or completely stop task execution at any moment; etc.
- Documentation of the progress and results of task execution.
