Combat Operations Simulator for Training and Exercise of Brigade-Level Joint Fire Support
About the System
The brigade-level combined fire support training complex is designed to implement mathematical models for conducting artillery fire by the Ukrainian defense forces' artillery systems. It calculates the impact zone when firing with an individual gun (mortar), a fire platoon, a battery, or all available artillery systems within the brigade’s artillery units, taking into account terrain relief, weather conditions, and individual corrections according to firing tables.
Using the INSTRUCTOR COMPLEX, the instructor can create interactive tasks involving fire adjustment on stationary ground targets, utilizing various ranging methods (UAV correction, burst sign correction, rangefinder use, stopwatch timing), as well as tasks involving firing on moving targets (a column), both as part of a fire platoon and within brigade artillery fire control, including two artillery (self-propelled artillery) battalions and a rocket battery of the brigade.
Integrated into the system are automated workstations designed to develop combat command skills for artillery units:
- A class on firing and fire control for the command battery of artillery reconnaissance, conducted by the senior officer of the rocket artillery battalion battery, which includes automated workstations for the AN/TPQ-49 operator, UAV operator, and senior officers of the rocket artillery battalion batteries.
- The firing and fire control class of the 1st battalion, which includes automated workstations for the commander of the 1st battalion, the commander of the 1st battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 1st battery, the commander of the 2nd battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 2nd battery, the commander of the 3rd battery, and the reconnaissance officer of the 3rd battery.
- Command Post Training Class for the 1st Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion Staff
- Command Post Training Class for the Chief of Staff of the Brigade Artillery Group
- Command Post Training Class for the 2nd Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion Staff
- The firing and fire control class of the 2nd division, consisting of automated workstations for the commander of the 2nd division, the commander of the 1st battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 1st battery, the commander of the 2nd battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 2nd battery, the commander of the 3rd battery, and the reconnaissance officer of the 3rd battery.
- A classroom for firing and fire control, workstations for brigade artillery group commanders, a small artillery range, a battery fire control center for artillery reconnaissance, which include workstations for the head of the artillery brigade, the commander of the brigade fire support unit, an electronic MAP instructor, an AN/TPQ-36 operator, an AZK operator, and a UAV operator.
- Command Post of the Anti-Tank Artillery Battalion
- Command Post of the Multiple Launch Rocket Artillery Battalion
- A firing and fire control classroom for the rocket artillery battalion, consisting of workstations for the commander of the rocket artillery battalion, the commander of the 1st battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 1st battery, the commander of the 2nd battery, the reconnaissance officer of the 2nd battery, the commander of the 3rd battery, and the reconnaissance officer of the 3rd battery.
- Senior Battery Officers’ Training Class of the 1st and 2nd Battalions
Specialized combat environment simulation software ‘Electronic Artillery Training Range – Brigade Level’ is installed on the Complex’s computer systems.
This software package comprises a suite of specialized applications and electronic libraries designed to support the operation, modeling, and simulation of:
