Combat Simulator for Training the Operator of the FIM-92 Stinger Man-Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS)
About the System
The multimedia complex (hereinafter referred to as the Complex or MC) for training the operator of the man-portable air-defense system “FIM-92 Stinger” (hereinafter referred to as the MANPADS “Stinger”) is designed for the instruction and training of the MANPADS “Stinger” operator. Its purpose is to develop and reinforce skills in visual reconnaissance, identification of aerial targets, aiming, and firing under various types of terrain and weather conditions, within a classroom environment. The simulator includes a Training mock-up of the “FIM-92 Stinger,” an Automated Instructor's Workstation (AIW), and specialized licensed software titled “Training Program for the Operator of the Man-Portable Air-Defense System ‘FIM-92 Stinger.’”

Designed to develop the combat operation skills of the FIM-92 Stinger operator and consists of the following simulators:
1. Launch tube 2. Launch unit 3. Battery-cooling unit (BCU block) 4. Safety and drive switch 5. Unlock button 6. Trigger
7. VR controller

Automated Instructor Workstation (AIW)
Designed to create situational and background-target environments, variants of task execution for training, as well as other conditions and factors affecting the preparation process.
From their workstation, the instructor can monitor the task execution process, with the capability to dynamically change conditions and scenarios, and also receives complete information about the actions of those being trained..
Using a collective visualization tool (television), the instructor is able to reproduce important elements of the training session for interested parties.

Specialized licensed software "Training Program for the Operator of the Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPADS) ‘FIM-92 Stinger’"
Represents a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulation of:
- the operating principles of the controls of the FIM-92 Stinger MANPADS used by the operator
- comprehensive simulation of training and combat environments closely resembling real conditions
- preparation and monitoring of the execution of training tasks
Used as part of a комплекс together with the FIM-92 Stinger training mock-up and the Instructor’s Workstation.
The use of training products based on virtual reality allows for quick and effective mastery of skills in handling new weapon systems without the use of ammunition or the risks of injury during training. For this reason, the Multimedia Complex we developed for training operators of the portable surface-to-air missile system “FIM-92 Stinger” is widely used in the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and demonstrates high-quality results in specialist training.
