Combat Simulator for Training a Machine Gunner of the DShK Heavy Machine Gun for Mobile Air Defense Fire Groups
About the System
A multimedia simulator for a heavy machine gunner operating large-caliber machine guns against air and ground targets (DSHK version), designed for the training and practice of a mobile fire team (without a driver) using a DSHK heavy machine gun. Its purpose is to develop and reinforce skills in visual reconnaissance, identification of aerial targets, aiming, and firing. The simulator operates in various types of terrain, under different weather conditions, and with ballistic adjustments, all within a classroom training environment.
The simulator includes: a DShK machine gun simulator, VR equipment for a machine gunner, automated workstation equipment for the instructor and operator, and specialized licensed software titled "DShK Machine Gunner Training Program."
Specialized licensed software titled "DSHK Machine Gunner Training Program" is installed on the computer equipment of the Trainer.
The Software is a set of specialized programs and electronic libraries designed for modeling and simulation:
- the operating principles of the DShK machine gun controls used by the gunner;
- simulator-based reproduction of training and combat environments closely resembling real conditions;
- preparation and monitoring of the execution of training tasks.
The software and hardware of the Simulator as a whole ensure the accomplishment of the following tasks:
- Effective training of the DShK machine gunner within the scope of their functional duties;
- Simulation of the DShK machine gunner’s workflow with the ability to reproduce practical actions;
- Reproduction of the local terrain and background environment (sounds of gunfire, explosions, etc.) within a unified information environment, with their dynamic changes during the execution of tasks;
- Reenactment of the machine gunner's actions while performing their duties, including target identification, aiming, firing, and so on;
- Modeling (visualization) of DShK machine gun firing in accordance with specified objectives: aiming, bullet trajectory, and the impact of fire on the target;
- Integration into higher-level training and simulation systems with the ability to transmit information about status, position, and task execution, combining several similar and/or different training systems into a single information environment;
- The ability for the instructor to create sound-target environment, different task execution options, weather conditions, season and time of day, meteorological shooting conditions, enemy influence, other conditions and factors affecting task performance, algorithms for changing the environment during task execution, behavior of neighboring units and the enemy (including air units), civilian population, etc.; monitoring the task execution process from the instructor’s position with the possibility to dynamically change the conditions of task performance during its execution, as well as to pause or completely stop the task at any moment, etc.;
- Documentation of the progress and results of task execution.
