About simulator
BUK-M1 (SA-11 Gadfly) surface-to-air missile (SAM) system personnel training simulator (the BUK-M1 simulator) is designed to education, train and evaluate the actions of the BUK-M1 SAM system division personnel to detect, capture, support and hit targets with the maximum approximation to the actual actions of the means of air attack.
The purpose of using this simulator is to form and consolidate the skills of coordinated work of SAM system personnel during combat missions.
The BUK-M1 simulator used in conjunction with special VBS-3 combat simulation software, which is not a part of the special licensed software and is supplied separately.
The simulator for training the maintenance personnel of the BUK-M1 anti-aircraft missile (SAM) system consists of three interconnected simulators with their own software:
- 9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher crew simulator
with licensed software “9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher combat operation training program”
- 9C470M1 combat control post staff simulator
with licensed software “9C470M1 combat control post staff combat operations training program”
- Simulator for modeling a combat situation and creating a single information space for training personnel of the BUK-M1 SAM system division
with licensed software “Software for modeling a combat situation and creating a single information space for training personnel of the BUK-M1 SAM system division”
9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher crew simulator
9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher crew simulator (the 9A310M1 simulator) is intended for education and training the 9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher (the Missile launcher) crew. The simulator represents a set of educational interactive simulation models of the Missile launcher crew workspaces.
The 9A310M1 simulator can be used separately, as a model for study controls system and information display the Missile launcher, as well as for modeling combat operations the Missile launcher.
The 9A310M1 simulator includes:
- interactive simulation model of the crew commander workplace
- interactive simulation model of the senior operator workplace
- interactive simulation model of the operator workplace
- simulation model of the driver workplace (electric power supply panel)
Educational interactive simulation models workplaces consist of blocks of mounted elements, which by size, mutual location, geometric shape, color and principle of interaction with the user reliably reproduce controls (steering wheels, joysticks, switches, buttons, joysticks, controls, etc.) and display means screens, banners, indicators, etc.) of a real Missile launcher vehicle.
9C470M1 combat control post staff simulator
9C470M1 combat control post staff simulator (the 9C470M1 simulator) is intended for education and training the 9C470M1 combat control post (the Combat control post) personnel.
The 9C470M1 simulator can be used separately, as a model for study controls system and information display the Combat control post, as well as for modeling combat operations.
The 9C470M1 simulator includes:
- interactive simulation model of the division commander workplace
- interactive simulation model of the staff supervisor workplace
- interactive simulation model of the senior operator workplace
- interactive simulation model of the operator workplace
- simulation model of the driver workplace (electric power supply panel)

Simulator for modeling a combat situation and creating a single information space for training personnel of the BUK-M1 SAM system division (the Combat situation simulator) is intended for use in training centers that train personnel of 9A310M1 self-propelled missile launcher and 9C470M1 combat control post which operate as part of the BUK-M1 SAM system division.
The Combat situation simulator includes:
- instructor workstation
- OpForce workstation – air target simulator
- switching node equipment
- equipment for interfacing with a telecode communication system
